About Isaac Alexander Hill
Greetings
Hi, my name is Isaac Hill, a student of astrology, music, the green world, and the Mysteries. I'm co-host of the Plant Cunning Podcast with my partner, herbalist AC Satuble-Hill, and have written The Heathen Golden Dawn, a handbook of ceremonial magic from a Heathen context. In my 20s, I traveled around the country playing with my weirdo folk family band, The Hills and the Rivers. I have been a spiritual seeker for most of my adult life, and have practiced in several different traditions over the years.

My Training
The main astrological tradition I currently study and practice in is the Achyutananda Das tradition from Orissa, India, through my teacher Freedom Cole, and his teacher Sanjay Rath. I have completed Freedom Cole's rigorous 2 year practitioner program, and am now engrossed in advanced studies within the lineage. With this system of Vedic astrology, or jyotish, I see the birth chart as a map of karma, revealing the obstacles, blessings, and desires of the soul in this incarnation. Through careful analysis of the chart, it is possible to find out how to tack one's sails, to work with the tides of destiny, and to remedy the sources of suffering. My goal is to be a 'karma doctor', and to help you to fulfill your greatest potential in this life. 
I have also studied Western astrology with Renaissance astrologer and magician Chris Warnock, and with Medical astrologer Judith Hill. I can advise on the best astrological talismans to work with, and what sorts of ritual work would be best for your chart.

Frequently Asked Questions
When I book a reading with Isaac, what will he need from me?
Isaac needs the exact birth time, date, and location in order to do a reading. The birth time should be known within 15 minutes of accuracy. Having a birth certificate on hand or calling the hospital in which you were born at will be better than relying on memory of you or your family.
What to expect from my reading?
The initial 90 minute reading is an analysis of your birthchart as a karmic map of this incarnation. First, we'll perform chart rectification to verify the exact time of birth. Then we'll look at the major planetary combinations in your chart and what they imply. We'll explore timing of life events next and see some indications of what the future holds. We'll end by looking at remedies which give you some practical steps to help the right potentiality unfold.
Horary / Prashna readings are similar to using other divination techniques such as tarot or runes in the way that there is a question asked to the world and an answer is given, to be interpreted. Instead of tarot cards or stones as the tool of the divine, the Horary reading uses an astrological chart that is created for the time of the question. Ask only questions that you are ready for the answer for.
Readings take place on-line on Zoom or if necessary via phone.
All readings are recorded and you will have access to the file of your reading afterwards. Be sure to download it to your device for future access.
What kind of remedies are given typically?
Some of the remedies include things like practical advice on how to best use what the chart indicates are your unique skills or gifts. Depending on your individual level of spiritual practice and religious background we can recommend particular mantras, prayers, rituals, pujas, and dieties to work with or donations to particular charities that correspond to the challenges indicated in your chart.

What's different about Vedic Astrology from Western Astrology?
Though I am trained in both traditional Western astrology and lineage based Vedic astrology, I mainly practice Vedic astrology for birth chart readings. The tradition I practice in uses the sidereal zodiac, instead of the tropical zodiac used by most Western astrologers (though I do also use that for some particular purposes.) The tropical zodiac uses the same names for the 12 thirty degree sections of sky we call the "Zodiac" that the sidereal does (Aries, Taurus, Gemini, etc) but the sidereal is anchored to the sky at the fixed stars (specifically the fixed star Spica) and the Tropical zodiac is anchored to the sky at the solar node, which we call the "Spring Equinox". In this tradition of Vedic astrology, we also use different techniques, such as whole sign house aspects, dashas, and charakarakas. I find that Vedic astrology is better suited for seeing what is actually happening in somebody's life, where there are karmic issues, and is especially useful for seeing the soul and the soul's purpose. "Karma" is a concept that comes out of traditional Indian spirituality, so of course the associated astrological system is the best one for seeing how karma manifests in one's life. Astrological systems are like languages, divine languages, and just as how a poet can write about the same person in German and Japanese, some things also can't be translated.
